On behalf of Modus and JV partner Iliad, we acted as planning advisers on a 7.3 acre mixed use development in the centre of Warrington. The redevelopment of the former wireworks in Winwick Street includes a cinema complex, restaurants, hotel, offices and residential development.
Warrington Borough Council had resolved to grant consent for the scheme subject to the non-intervention of the Secretary of State on referral. However, the application was called in and a Public Inquiry was held over three weeks in 2007.
Consent was finally secured for this flagship scheme which the local Council's Chief Executive, Diana Terris, stated was "the best way of regenerating a site which stands on a major route into the town centre."
