New Appointments at the Rating Surveyors Association

24th March 2009

John Elcox, Vice President

Two key figures in the world of Rating have been appointed to take the Rating Surveyors Association (RSA) into its next year of operation. Mark Higgin of Montagu Evans has been elected President and John Elcox of Matthews & Goodman, Vice President. Both posts became effective at the AGM on 23rd March 2009.

The primary function of the RSA is to work with the various bodies responsible for the rating system - the Department for Communities and Local Government, the Valuation Office Agency, Local Authorities and the Valuation Tribunals - to improve the business rates system. The RSA will be very active over the next 12 months, not just in preparation for the 2010 Revaluation but also in debate on the current hot topics of the Business Rates Supplement Bill and calls from the CBI for a two year freeze on business rates.

The Rating Surveyors' Association is a professional organisation representing the interests of experienced Chartered Surveyors who specialise in the field of business rates. The Association was founded in 1909 and now has over 400 members drawn from private practice, corporate bodies, the Valuation Office Agency and local authorities.
