Bespoke Inverness Depot Acquired for The Co-op
The Co-op has opened a new depot in Inverness to transform and modernise the distribution network serving its Highlands and Islands stores.
Located on a 2 ¼ acre site known as Inverness Business Park, the 12,000 sq ft facility is a fully fitted bespoke development, designed to improve efficiency and better meet the company’s operational needs.
The Co-op had sought a new facility for some time and following two failed attempts to acquire suitable premises, and with the problem now time critical due to a forthcoming lease event on their current unit, Matthews & Goodman were appointed to assist.
Given the quality of the buildings in the market and the client’s preference to secure a cross docked facility to improve efficiency, the decision was made to create a bespoke unit. Matthews & Goodman’s national business space team identified suitable premises and completed the freehold acquisition as a turn-key package from Roxhill Developments.
The unit was subsequently developed out as a fully fitted facility, including 9 loading doors and 360-degree access. Formally opened in August, the depot will be fully operational from this month.
Matthews & Goodman continues to work with The Co-op in Scotland, having been instructed to provide lease consultancy advice on a 505,000 sq ft facility in Motherwell.
