Samsung Appoints Matthews & Goodman In Search for New HQ
Samsung Electronics UK, one of the world’s leading electronics companies, has appointed Matthews & Goodman to help deliver the company’s relocation and business consolidation strategy.
The brief, which comprises identifying a new 100,000+ sq ft office, in the Chertsey/M25 area, is the latest from Samsung for the multi-disciplined commercial property specialists.
Samsung plans to relocate teams currently based in Egham, Chertsey, Staines and Yateley into one office, hence the specificity of the brief. An important consideration for Samsung is to find a location which will minimise any loss of personnel and maximise the opportunity for colleagues to co-work more collaboratively and more efficiently together.
The Matthews & Goodman team, led by Mark Tillson, is currently finalising the due diligence on an off-market agreement for a building which meets all the criteria of brief and allows Samsung to refurbish the property to meet its occupational goals.
According to Mark, “The clarity of the brief proved a great starting point for us but, the lack of market opportunities proved to be a significant stumbling block at first.
“We were fortunate to find the right property, in the right location and successfully negotiated the right terms. An NDA prevents us from being more specific but, having seen the initial plans for the new office, I can say that this is an assignment we are very proud of.”
Samsung Electronics UK are intending to move into their new Head Quarters by Q4 2020.
