Identify and secure a new regional facility (to serve units its London, south  Midlands and East Anglia shops), which would form part of a national network of nine depots.


A 50-acre site was identified and secured in Biggleswade on a 20-year lease. The 661,000 sq ft cross docked unit, designed to handle up 100 million cases per annum of frozen fresh and ambient per week, is powered by renewable energy.

The company’s 24-7/364 operational capability required extensive queuing lanes, 360-degree access, a fuel island, vehicle wash, vehicle charging points, extensive lorry and carparking linked by footbridge to allow effective shift change overs.
